Tú eres el Verbo eternal

Tú eres el Verbo eternal,
De todo el Creador,
Gloria del Padre celestial,
Don de inefable amor;
De su potencia y su virtud
Habita en Ti la plenitud;
¡Salve! oh divino Redentor.

De tu mansión de eternidad,
Morada angelical,
Do siempre brilla santidad
Y no entra nunca el mal,
¡Qué mansedumbre y caridad!
Viniste al mundo en humildad,
Tomando forma de mortal.

Luz en la tierra esclareció,
De gloria el resplandor;
A su Hijo amado Dios envió
Del cielo embajador;
Nos revelaste Tú, ¡oh Señor!
Del Padre amante el corazón,
Lleno de gracia y compasión.

Para alcanzarnos la salud,
¡Cuánto sufriste aquí!
Y te humillaste hasta la cruz,
Dando tu vida así;
Aun ocultó el sol su luz
Cuando moriste, ¡oh Jesús!
Tanta fue tu agonía allí.

Mas ya tu Dios te levantó,
Príncipe y Salvador,
Y al sumo trono Te ensalzó
Con gloria y con honor;
Subiste a lo alto, ¡oh Vencedor!
Y el cielo entero con fervor
Honra suprema Te rindió.

Thou art the Everlasting Word

Thou art the everlasting Word,
The Father's only Son;
God manifestly seen and heard,
And Heav'n's belovèd one:

Refrain

Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou
That every knee to Thee should bow.

In Thee most perfectly expressed
The Father's glories shine;
Of the full deity possessed,
Eternally divine:

True image of the Infinite,
Whose essence is concealed;
Brightness of uncreated light;
The heart of God revealed:

But the high mysteries of Thy Name
An angel's grasp transcend;
The Father only—glorious claim!—
The Son can comprehend:

Throughout the universe of bliss,
The center Thou, and sun;
Th'eternal theme of praise of this,
To Heav'n's belovèd one:
